This pair of bright red day shoes were worn by Anna Pavlova in the mid to late 1920s. Pavlova was known for her elegant off-stage style and these shoes seem to have been particular favourites. Many photographs survive showing the dancer wearing these shoes in the late 1920s. The shoes are stamped inside: 'H. Aigence,/69 FAUBG. ST. HONORÉ/PRÈS L'ELYSÉE, PARIS'.

This graphic is designed to give you an impression of the quality of data you can see. 100% meets all our current data standards and has a high quality image, 20% is a basic record with no image. Individual record quality can change over time as new photography is carried out and records are worked on.X
