  • Pair of men's one-piece gauntlet gloves of soft white kid or lamb skin dressed flesh-side out and cut with slight flare below wrist, which is left open for last 105 mm. Seams at base of thumb, down outer side, down little finger side and down back of fingers oversewn with silver thread in braid stitch. Seams of fingers continued for 35 mm down backs where each is decorated with three spider knots in silver thread. Gauntlet backed with canvas and lined with deep pink silk which is turned to front to bind lower edge. These and side slits are trimmed with fringe of silver thread bound with cream silk (20 mm deep). Gauntlet decorated with continuous line forming interlaced, heart-shaped compartments, points of which extend into centre of glove almost to base of thumb. Compartments contain and are decorated with stylised plants, leaves and flowers; embroidery worked with laid and couched silver thread, purl and chain, partially padded.
