The Suffragette Kitty Marion under arrest in Wales. This arrest took place after 5 Suffragettes, including Kitty heckled Lloyd George at a meeting in Wales and were brutally set upon by vicious crowd. A full report of this incident appears in Votes for Women and notes that all the Suffragettes had handfuls of hair ripped from the roots so violently that blood ran down their faces and one Suffragette was even stabbed in the breast with a knife, although the cut was not serious.

Record quality:
Not every record in Collections Online is complete. Some have low quality images designed purely for recognition, while some have been catalogued only to a basic standard. This graphic is designed to give you an impression of the quality of data you can see. 100% meets all our current data standards and has a high quality image, 20% is a basic record with no image. Individual record quality can change over time as new photography is carried out and records are worked on.
