Women Writers' Suffrage League 'forming up' for the Women's Coronation procession, 17th June 1911. To the left can be seen part of the banner of the League that was formed in 1908 with the mission 'to obtain the vote for women on the same terms as it is or may be granted to men. Its methods are those proper to writers - the use of the pen.' . Two of the women in the photograph have been identified on the reverse as Cicely Hamilton, a founding member of the WWSL and Dorien Leigh. It is possible that Beatrice Harradan, another leading member is in the image wearing spectacles and long black gloves. The Women's Writers' Suffrage League headed Section H1 of the procession alongside the Artists' Suffrage League and the Suffrage Atelier. This section travelled via Westminster to Northumberland Avenue where it converged with the Procession arriving from the Embankment.
