  • White cotton tee shirt printed in red and black with 'STATIONS OF THE CROSS' where the O is replaced by the anarchist symbol. Now sleeveless, the original sleeves have been cut or ripped out. There is some soiling and several deliberate holes. The T-shirt belonged to Katharine Saunders, a teenage follower of the influential anarchist punk group Crass. Crass were politically active, becoming involved in direct-action campaigns, subversive graffiti and ‘Stop the City’ protests. Their military-style logo combined the cross, swastika, Union Jack and Celtic snake. The shirt was given to Katherine by a skinhead admirer.

Record quality:

What is this?

Not every record in Collections Online is complete. Some have low quality images designed purely for recognition, while some have been catalogued only to a basic standard. This graphic is designed to give you an impression of the quality of data you can see. 100% meets all our current data standards and has a high quality image, 20% is a basic record with no image. Individual record quality can change over time as new photography is carried out and records are worked on.
