  • Handmade card bearing the signature of a number of suffragettes. Headed 'Caroline Townsend DX 2.9'. the card refers to her imprisonment for 1 month in February 1909 and the signatures possibly relate to other suffragettes imprisoned with her. The card is decorated with a cut out roundel bearing Sylvia Pankursts design of a prisoner breaking free from her chains surrounded by a decorative border part hand painted in blue. Possibly made by Caroline herself whilst in prison.
