  • Note written on prison toilet paper from Kitty Marion to another imprisoned suffragette. The letter refers to the poor condition of the writer's hair which, seems to be 'falling out dreadfully here' (in prison). A lock of red hair is attached to the paper with a pin. The letter was written in 1914. It refers to the incident that took place 18 months earlier in September 1912 where Kitty's hair had been badly pulled by a mob opposed to her heckling of Lloyd George at the Welsh National Eisteddfod at Wrexham.

Record quality:

What is this?

Not every record in Collections Online is complete. Some have low quality images designed purely for recognition, while some have been catalogued only to a basic standard. This graphic is designed to give you an impression of the quality of data you can see. 100% meets all our current data standards and has a high quality image, 20% is a basic record with no image. Individual record quality can change over time as new photography is carried out and records are worked on.
