  • This gold finger ring is one of a group of 12. It was designed by Violet Blacker for members of the lesbian group Kenric. Kenric donated the ring to the museum, together with the following statement: 'In 1968 the Kenric rings were struck to provide a silent recognition between members: secrecy became style, fashion concealed discretion. Belonging once to the first chairwoman this ring is held in the highest esteem: a beautiful symbol of Kenric's past, as well as, probably, its work in the future.'

Record quality:

What is this?

Not every record in Collections Online is complete. Some have low quality images designed purely for recognition, while some have been catalogued only to a basic standard. This graphic is designed to give you an impression of the quality of data you can see. 100% meets all our current data standards and has a high quality image, 20% is a basic record with no image. Individual record quality can change over time as new photography is carried out and records are worked on.
