Printed handbill or flyer urging members of the public to assist the Women's Social and Political Union 'rush' the House of Commons on 13 October 1908. The flyer was probably distributed amongst the crowd of spectators who attended the Suffragette rally in Trafalgar Square on 11th October 1908 at which Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst and Flora Drummond urged the public to support them in their planned demonstration. Following the rally Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst and Flora Drummond were arrested on a charge of conduct likely to provoke a breach of the peace. In their absence the 'raid' was led by Marion Wallace-Dunlop and resulted in the arrest of 24 women and 12 men and the apperance in the chamber of the House of Commons of Margaret Travers-Symons, Keir Hardie's Secretary.

This is one of several similar flyers in the Museum Collection printed by St Clement's press for the WSPU. The mass leafleting of this event was undertaking to ensure maximum support. < Hide
