This lead seal, found at Queenhithe in the City of London, has a Greek inscription showing that it was issued by the ministry of finance of the eastern Roman empire in Byzantium (Istanbul). The obverse has a bust of St Michael holding a globe or orb in his left hand. The reverse has an inscription in six lines in Greek. It is a seal of Leo, Logothete of the Genikon (Minister of the Treasury) between 1025 and 1075.
