On Display: Museum of London: Medieval London: 180 Years War
Large mount from a horse harness. It has a barbed quatrefoil shape and is decorated with a shield bearing the arms of the Earls of Hereford. There are dragons around the shield with traces of enamel. The mount was fixed to the horse harness with four large rivets with domed heads. The Earls of Hereford were hereditary 'constables' of England from 1176 to 1372 and were responsible for organising tournaments and for matters of chivalry.

Not every record in Collections Online is complete. Some have low quality images designed purely for recognition, while some have been catalogued only to a basic standard. This graphic is designed to give you an impression of the quality of data you can see. 100% meets all our current data standards and has a high quality image, 20% is a basic record with no image. Individual record quality can change over time as new photography is carried out and records are worked on.X
