Suffragettes making banners and pennants for the procession to Hyde Park, 23 July 1910. The date was chosen because it was the anniversary of the Men's Franchise Demonstration of 1867 when the railings in Hyde Park were torn down. The two processions that converged on Hyde Park were individually themed. The procession approaching from the West, organised by the WFL had a Roman theme, focusing on Victory and Justice, whilst that from the east, organised by the Women's Social and Political Union, had an 'oriental' theme. Many of the banners were designed and made by members of the Artists' Suffrage League.
