  • This corbel, in the form of an angel holding a shield with the arms of the Grocers' Company, has a paper label on the back which suggests that it was removed from Crosby Hall, the large Bishopsgate mansion built by the London Grocer Sir John Crosby between 1466 and 1471. The mansion was continuously occupied after Crosby's death in 1471, and survived the ravages of the Great Fire of London in 1666.
