  • Memento mori finger ring decorated with black enamel on gold and engraved with flowers. On the on the inside is an inscription: 'Oh my sister, my sister, R.H. Jan 22. 1670'. At a funeral, black scarves and hatbands were distributed, along with mourning rings. The quality and value of the ‘memento mori’ (remember you must die) varied according to the recipients’ relationship with the deceased.
