  • Brass travelling pen case or ‘penner’ with receptacles for a pen and inkwell, engraved with floral scrollwork, a seal, the initials W Y and inscription 'Virgo fecit, 1654'. Virgo seems to have been a member of the Madin family of Sheffield, and other examples of his work dating between 1652 and 1657 are held in private collections and the Victoria & Albert Museum (M.201-1914).
