  • Handcoloured theatrical souvenir plate engraved with a portrait of the actor Mr T.P.Cooke in the role of Ben Backstay. The portrait has applied cotton clothing, the belt and the sword are embellished with metal foil tinsel ornaments. The sheet has some handcoloured background scenery and is mounted on card. Published by Orlando Hodgson on 9 April 1832, such theatrical souvenirs would have been sold plain for colouring and tinselling at home.
