  • Suffragette prisoner's silver hunger strike medal with purple white and green ribbon. Presented to Florence Haig to commemorate her periods of imprisonment and hunger strike between 1908 and 1912. Florence first went to prison in February 1908 for her part in the 'pantechnicon raid' on the House of Commons. She was again imprisoned in Holloway in June for taking part in a deputation to the House of Commons . On 1st March 1912 Florence was arrested for breaking the windows of DH Evans in Oxford Street during the WSPU window-smashing campaign. She was sentenced to four months imprisonment during which she endured hunger strike and force feeding.
