  • A hinged wood patten made from two pieces of wood with a leather hinge. This is adult size and is possibly for a right foot. The leather hinge is made from two layers of sheet leather secured by two rows of four nails. The remains of a single nail on either side of the seat area indicate where the heel straps were attached, which are now missing. The toe straps are narrow and made from single thickness of leather. They are secured by one nail on either side of the toe end and two nails on either side of the tread area, beyond the hinge. The base of the wood patten is worn and there are the remains of an arch under the waist.

Record quality:

What is this?

Not every record in Collections Online is complete. Some have low quality images designed purely for recognition, while some have been catalogued only to a basic standard. This graphic is designed to give you an impression of the quality of data you can see. 100% meets all our current data standards and has a high quality image, 20% is a basic record with no image. Individual record quality can change over time as new photography is carried out and records are worked on.
