  • Valentine's card formed from four sheets of gilded embossed and lace paper stuck back to back. The front cover comprises a gilded lace paper sheet with central embossed flower wreath. In the centre is applied a paper 'scrap' of a lilac bush. In each of the four corners is applied a panel of brown cotton velvet. This sheet has been padded by a paper wad being placed between the two sheets of lace paper. Stuck to the back of this sheet is another identical gilded and lace paper sheet. In the central oval shaped panel is applied a sepia photograph of a riverbank. The other two sheets of lace paper are also stuck back to back and the inner sheet also contains an applied sepia photograph of a man fishing. The card is held together with a blue silk fringe.

Record quality:

What is this?

Not every record in Collections Online is complete. Some have low quality images designed purely for recognition, while some have been catalogued only to a basic standard. This graphic is designed to give you an impression of the quality of data you can see. 100% meets all our current data standards and has a high quality image, 20% is a basic record with no image. Individual record quality can change over time as new photography is carried out and records are worked on.
