  • Adult right foot ankle shoe with a rounded toe and drawstring fastening. The one-piece upper is front fastening with a narrow vertical insert at the front throat. This strip has a vertical thong laced through it. There are an additional three vertical thongs laced through slots in the leather of the upper around the ankle. The four coils of the drawstring are laced through these vertical thongs and held in place by them. This form of fastening is already known from London (Grew et al 1988, 14-15). The top band is missing from this example, as is the sole.
